Were hiring an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist for a hospital in Saginaw, MI where you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the treatment, care, and needs of patients with breathing disorders. The Respiratory Therapist provides intensive respiratory care, patient transport, and education, operating ventilatory equipment and performing procedures according to policy and physician orders. Responsibilities include ventilator management, airway management, suctioning, tracheostomy care, arterial puncture, oximetry and capnography monitoring, chest physiotherapy, pulmonary function testing, 12-lead EKGs, basic arrhythmia recognition, assistance with bronchoscopy and chest tube procedures, and accurate documentation of treatments and patient response.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelors degree from a Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science program.
- Current state Respiratory Therapist license in good standing with the State License Board.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
- At least one year of experience as an RRT in an acute care or hospital setting.
- BLS certification required.
- Experience operating and troubleshooting a variety of mechanical ventilators and non-invasive ventilation devices.
- Competence with arterial blood gas collection and interpretation.
- Ability to perform tracheostomy care, endotracheal tube insertion/removal, and suctioning per policy.
- Familiarity with 12-lead EKG acquisition and basic arrhythmia recognition.
- Experience working in moderate complexity hospital laboratories is preferred when applicable, including specimen handling and quality control procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS certification preferred.
- Experience with bronchoscopy support, chest tube management, and emergent airway procedures preferred.
- Prior travel or contract experience in hospital respiratory departments preferred.
