Job Summary

The Program Coordinator/Instructor of the Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) program has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, leadership, supervision, and administrative duties related to the PTA Program, as well as providing instruction for students enrolled in the Physical Therapy Assistant program. This position provides the expertise and knowledge necessary to support institutional curriculum and program objectives while ensuring compliance with accreditation, licensure, and college requirements. Assigned classes may occur during the day, evening, and/or online, with varying teaching locations including on-campus and dual enrollment sites as applicable. This is a full-time position that reports to LSCPAs Allied Health Department.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Provide quality instruction
  • Serve as Program Coordinator for the PTA program, providing leadership and administrative oversight in accordance with CAPTE standards
  • Participate in college tasks, which includes but is not limited to, advising, recruiting, and tutoring
  • Serve on departmental and college committees, perform community services, and participate in continuing educational and/or professional development opportunities
  • Exhibit commitment and involvement in the development, implementation, and assessment of curriculum based on program, department and college goals and objectives
  • Attend faculty meetings
  • Maintain current knowledge, expertise, and safety in the subject areas of teaching responsibility along with broader higher education matters and trends
  • Respond to students, faculty and staff in a timely and professional manner
  • Occasional travel to various campus and/or conference, seminar locations
  • Participate in activities required to maintain program and college accreditation standards
  • Comply with campus policies and procedures
  • Other related duties, as assigned
  • Minimum/Preferred Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Current, unencumbered Texas license as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) or Physical Therapist (PT)
  • Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience as a PTA and/or PT, consistent with CAPTE requirements
  • Minimum of two (2) years of instructional experience in physical therapy
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Work independently in the classroom, laboratory, and administrative settings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Possess great time management and communication skills
  • Valid drivers license

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Prior experience serving as a program coordinator, lead faculty, or in another academic leadership position
  • Experience with accreditation, assessment, and program evaluation processes
  • Experience working in higher education

    Physical Requirements:
    Duties may include standing, walking, bending, reaching, and occasional lifting or moving of equipment or materials up to 25 pounds. Visual and auditory acuity are required to ensure effective instruction and safe supervision of students in classroom and laboratory settings.
