Speech Language Pathologist (Per Diem)Role SummaryAs a Speech Language Pathologist at Howard University Hospital, you will evaluate and treat patients with speech, language, swallowing, voice, and cognitive disorders across the lifespan. This role prioritizes evaluations for patients admitted with CVA diagnoses and those requiring swallowing assessments. You will develop and implement individualized treatment plans and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support safe swallowing, functional communication, and improved patient outcomes.What You'll Do

Assess and treat patients with speech, language, swallowing, voice, and cognitive disorders (adult and pediatric populations)Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with measurable short- and long-term goalsProvide clinical information to physicians and interdisciplinary teams to support modifications to treatment plansMaintain accurate and timely documentation including medical necessity, treatment plans, goals, and patient responsePerform bedside and instrumental swallowing evaluations (MBS/FEES) as appropriateParticipate in quality improvement activities, continuing education, and department in-servicesMaintain required clinical competencies including DPNS, LSVT, e-stim, and PMSV use as applicablePerform additional duties as assigned

Required QualificationsEducation

Master's degree from an accredited program in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders

Experience

Minimum three (3) years of clinical experience in an acute care settingExperience with Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies preferred

Licensure & Certification

ASHA Certification (CCC-SLP)Current DC licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist
