New River Community and Technical College (NRCTC) is seeking a qualified and mission driven Program Director/Instructor to lead its CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program. This role offers an opportunity to combine academic leadership, teaching, and clinical engagement while making a meaningful impact on students and healthcare workforce in southern West Virginia.
Position Summary
The Program Director provides leadership, administration, instruction, and accreditation oversight for the PTA Program. Reporting to the Dean of Allied Health, Nursing and Natural Sciences, this full-time, exempt position ensures program quality, compliance with CAPTE Standards, and student success through collaborative faculty and community partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Provide academic and administrative leadership for the PTA Program
Ensure ongoing compliance with CAPTE accreditation standards, reporting, and outcomes assessment
Teach PTA didactic and laboratory courses
Lead curriculum development, assessment, and continuous improvement
Manage program budget, resources, scheduling, and admissions processes
Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty
Maintain clinical partnerships and advisory board engagement
Complete 50 hours of annual clinical practice
Participate in institutional governance and professional service.
Required Qualifications
Active, unencumbered PT or PTA license/certification (eligible for WV practice)
Master's degree required (Doctorate preferred)
Graduate of a CAPTE-accredited PT program or closely related field
Minimum of 5 years post-licensure experience, including 3 years of clinical practice
Teaching experience (classroom, lab or clinical)
Leadership or administrative experience (academic or clinical)
Professional development in:
Educational theory and methodology
Instructional design
Student evaluation
Outcomes assessment
Preferred
Prior experience as a Program Director, Academic Coordinator, or Core Faculty of a PTA Program
Experience with accreditation reporting and outcomes data
