The Audiologist evaluates, diagnoses, and provides aural rehabilitative services to patients ranging from infancy through 21 years of age who demonstrate hearing loss. Responsibilities include administering a variety of diagnostic tests to assess hearing levels and identify hearing impairments, recommending and prescribing hearing aids and/or specialized training, and coordinating audiometric findings with other diagnostic information. The Audiologist also assists in the selection, fitting, and use of appropriate hearing devices and develops treatment recommendations to support optimal patient outcomes.

GENERAL DUTIES

Performs patient hearing test assessments, analyzes results and recommends varied treatment and product options.
Delivers clinically appropriate evaluation, therapy and aural rehabilitative services to assigned population/patients with hearing and balance problems as guided by preferred practices outlined in the Standards of Clinical Practices Manual. Generates appropriate rehabilitative protocols/timelines.

Counsels patients, documents treatment plans and works with the physician on a treatment plan. Develops appropriate recommendations for patient follow-up.

Provides clinically appropriate neural telemetry testing in the operating room.

Fits and dispenses hearing aids or other equipment as required.

Performs daily equipment biological calibrations, maintains equipment, and initiates requests for repair.

Keeps accurate and comprehensive records in patient's medical chart and department-based files.

Facilitates the organizations compliance with JCAHO, CARF, ASHA, OSHA and ADA guidelines.

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

6 months of experience Certified Audiologist

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Basic Life Support Health Care Provider American Heart Association

Audiology American Speech-Language-Hearing Association

Audiology Louisiana Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology
