Therapeutic Certified Recreional Therapist

Full Time Position

$56,000/per year

  • Provide therapeutic recreion-based trement program opportunities, including individual and group therapy, in a safe, effective manner to all program participants.
  • Complete assessment/evaluion in the areas of Recreional Therapy upon admission for all program participants.
  • Work directly with paraprofessional staff to facilite training and program participant growth in the areas of Recreional Therapy.
  • Assist in the development of the rehabilition plan of care to meet the needs of each program participant.
  • Communice with the program participant, family, and funders as needed regarding participant stus and need of services.
  • Remain current and compliant with federal, ste, and accrediting body regulions and standards.
  • Adhere to work practices consistent with Mentor mission, policies, and procedures.
  • Adhere to code of ethics, standards of practice, and continuing educion requirements of the American Therapeutic Recreion Associion (ATRA).
  • Procure and maintain all recreional equipment to assure safe and approprie use by program participants and staff.
  • Advoce and educe staff, program participants, and families in the areas of recreional therapy and therapeutic recreion.
  • Maintain best practice methods through continued educion coursework.

Qualificions:

  • Bachelors Degree in Recreional Therapy.
  • Two years of experience in a rehabilition environment and/or work with persons with neurological and developmental deficits.
  • Certificion of CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreion Specialist).
  • Knowledge of rehabilitive techniques relive to recreion for persons with diverse neurological impairment.
  • Ability to interpret evaluions from various disciplines (Neuropsychology, Occupional/Speech/Physical Therapies) and understand the relevance to your practice.
  • Ability to handle stressful situions in a calm, professional manner. Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion.
  • Exceptional communicion skills with an ability to establish trust and rapport quickly.
  • A good listener with an ability to emphize while still providing guidance.
