Available Title(s): 284F-YN_CS_NPS - Patient Services Coordinator Business Title: Patient Services Coordinator | College of Veterinary Medicine Employee Type: Classified Position Details: The Opportunity: The College of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University is recruiting Patient Services Coordinators (PSCs) to support multiple specialty services within the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, including but not limited to Orthopedic Surgery, Cardiology, and Emergency Services . Patient Services Coordinators serve as a vital link between clients, referring veterinarians, the general public, and hospital personnel. In this role, you will coordinate and support patient and client care needs while helping ensure smooth day-to-day operations within assigned service areas. Positions may focus on a primary specialty while also providing cross-coverage and backup support to other services to ensure seamless service delivery and continuity of care. Key Responsibilities: Act as the primary point of contact and liaison between clients, referring veterinarians, the public, and Veterinary Teaching Hospital personnel Communicate with clients and referring veterinarians regarding hospitalized patients, follow-up care, diagnostics, treatment plans (within scope of role), cost estimates, cost updates, and hospital policies Coordinate interdepartmental service consultations and case transfers, as directed by primary clinicians Assist with scheduling, patient flow coordination, and daily operational support within assigned specialty services Provide cross-training and backup support to other Patient Services Coordinators as needed Support orientation of new interns, residents, students, and staff by assisting with clerical procedures and preparing orientation materials Communicate hospital services, charges, fees, and policies clearly and professionally to the public Additional Information: This is a full time (100 % FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible. Monthly Salary: $3,665 to $4,882 | Range 41 | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28 . In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Required Qualifications: High school graduation or equivalent AND three years of general office experience or two years of office or customer service experience in a healthcare setting; OR equivalent education/experience. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in veterinary clinic/setting. Experience providing coordination and support activities to clients and clinicians. Experience with use of medical terminology. Experience with reading and scanning medical records for key words and information. Strong ability to multi-task or adjust to a changing workflow throughout the day.
