Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited educational program.
  • Completed Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) or equivalent Level II clinical experience. New graduates accepted if Level II experience documented; Level I observation alone is not sufficient.
  • Active Missouri state license required to start the assignment. Compact license accepted where applicable.
  • CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology) required.
  • Minimum 1 year of SLP clinical experience; experience in long term care or skilled nursing preferred and effectively required by client.
  • BLS certification may be required from AHA or ARC.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supervising CFY clinicians or SLP students.
  • Experience with electronic documentation systems and accurate minutes reporting.
  • Familiarity with standardized assessments and evidence-based interventions for dysphagia and communication disorders.

Assignment Details

  • M-F, 8 hour days. Times are flexible as long as consistent and communicated with Director of Rehab. Therapists should start before 6:00 AM and no later than 10:00 AM.
  • No weekend requirement unless a holiday falls within MondayFriday; hours may be made up on a weekend in that case.
  • 35 GWW (guaranteed weekly work).

Impacting Patient Care

Effectively screen, evaluate, and rehabilitate patients with communication, cognitive, or swallowing disorders and develop appropriate plans of care following regulatory and clinical practice standards. Utilize standardized assessments and evidence-based practice. Assess progress, adjust treatment, and evaluate outcomes. Provide consultation to patients, families, caregivers, and other providers. Communicate patient status and barriers to supervisors and the care team. Document regulatory and clinically required information in the electronic medical record and maintain accurate treatment minutes. Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review, and facility-required trainings. Obtain necessary DME or supplies per clinical requirements. Adhere to ASHA and state practice acts, codes of conduct, and ethics.
