Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Travel Job

Were hiring an experienced Respiratory Therapist for a local hospital in Portage, IN where you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the treatment, care, and needs of patients with breathing disorders. The Respiratory Therapist provides intensive respiratory care, patient transport, and education according to physician orders and facility policy. Responsibilities include performing ventilator management, suctioning, tracheostomy care, pulmonary function studies, arterial puncture, oximetry and capnography monitoring, 12-lead EKGs, chest physiotherapy, assistance with bronchoscopy and chest tube procedures, and documenting patient responses to therapy. You will follow laboratory and equipment policies, assist with equipment maintenance, and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation per BLS and ACLS guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate or bachelors degree from a Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science program.
• Current state Respiratory Therapist license in good standing with the State License Board.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required.
• Minimum one year of experience as an RRT in an acute care or hospital setting.
• BLS certification required.
• Experience operating and managing mechanical ventilators and both invasive and non-invasive ventilation.
• Experience performing arterial puncture and interpreting ventilatory efficiency measurements.
• Ability to perform and document routine respiratory procedures (suctioning, chest physiotherapy, trach care, 12-lead EKG, pulmonary function tests).

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS certification preferred.
• Experience with bronchoscopy assistance, chest tube management, and advanced airway procedures preferred.
• Previous experience in a moderate to high acuity hospital or trauma center preferred.

Assignment Details

• Shift pattern: 3x12 day shifts.
• Duration: 13-week assignment.
• May be required to float to other facilities within the client system as needed.
