Position Summary
As a Physical Therapy Assistant, you will participate in providing physical therapy evaluations and treatments to individuals at CWC. You will independently implement treatment approaches in the following specialty areas: neurodevelopmental treatment and post-surgical/orthopedic care. Services are provided independently with bi-weekly face-to-face contact with the supervising Physical Therapist.
Responsibilities also include providing adaptive mobility equipment and splinting devices; participating with the interdisciplinary team and department staff; providing training to new CNAs, Nursing staff, Adult Program staff, students, community staff in case of individuals moving to the community, and staff from other disciplines; and participating in employee injury reduction projects.
Salary Information
The starting salary is between $31.00 and $34.00 per hour (approximately between $65,300 and $70,700 per year), depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. This position is in pay schedule and range 06/64. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction.
Job Details
- All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
- All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by CWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.
- DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. DHS is not an E-Verify employer nor a STEM-OPT eligible employer.
- This position has physical requirements which may include but are not limited to lifting to 50 lbs., kneeling, stooping, and standing.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified applicants will have:
- Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the State of Wisconsin. Selected candidate must be licensed within 3 months of appointment. Eligible means you are graduating soon and preparing to take the exam, have graduated and are scheduled to take the exam, pending results of the exam, or you currently hold a license in another state and are eligible to obtain a license in the State of Wisconsin.
- Experience or training providing active physical therapy treatment
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
- Experience training others on needs of individuals with disabilities (e.g. motor development, positioning, handing, equipment use, etc.).
- Experience working on an interdisciplinary team.
