SUMMARYAdministers physical therapy trements to pients and works under the direction of and as an assistant to the Physical Therapists.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to sisfactorily perform each essential function listed below:
- Assures all program participants receive scheduled PT (Physical Therapy) trements and documents therapy session or reason for inability to tend.
- Performs active, passive and/or resistive therapeutic exercises, general therapy principles on program participants.
- Performs therapeutic massage on program participants as needed.
- Performs general mobilizion and/or passive stretch to program participants, within LIMITS OF SAFETY regarding joint/muscle stretch.
- Instructs, motives and assists program participants in learning and improving functional activities.
- Provides gait training and instructs program participants in the use of canes, crutches, walkers, braces and splints. Trains program participants homebound and community level, including endurance training
- Measures ROM, length and girth of body parts, vital signs, and MMT (manual muscle tests) to assist Physical Therapist in evaluing program participants and/or to determine the effectiveness of the program plan
- Confers with staff members and other health care members to exchange, discuss and evalue program participant informion for modifying and coordining current trement program and participe in trement planning with trans-disciplinary team as requested.
- Ensures adherence to accredition standards, licensure standards, professional code of ethics, and confidentiality.
- Demonstres knowledge of indicions and contra-indicions of physical therapy modalities and techniques.
- Asses PT equipment and has a good working knowledge of physical therapy equipment and therapeutic exercise trements.
- Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills required by the Job
The requirements listed below are representive of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required to perform the job:
Educion and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One year experience in a human services or reled field. Gradue of an accredited PTA program (Must have passed exam).
Certifices, Licenses, and Registrions:
- Current PTA license in the ste of work.

Physical Requirements:
- Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
