Were hiring an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a hospital in Cedar Rapids, IA. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment and care for patients with breathing disorders across age groups, including NICU patients when assigned. The role requires competency with a range of ventilators and the EPIC electronic medical record. Prompt responsiveness is appreciated.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelors degree from a Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science program.
- Active NBRC credential (Registered Respiratory Therapist) required.
- Current state respiratory license in good standing. Iowa license highly preferred; candidates who require licensing may be considered with expected 13 week turnaround.
- Minimum 24 months of RRT/respiratory experience in a hospital setting. No CRTs will be considered.
- Work history/resume must reflect 36 months of current RRT/Respiratory Therapy experience.
- Recent NICU experience within the last 18 months. Level III or Level IV NICU experience within the last 15 months required.
- EPIC EMR experience required.
- Active certifications required: BLS, ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), NRP, and any institution-required neonatal resuscitation certification. All certifications must be current.
- Equipment experience required: Drager ventilators, jet ventilator, and oscillator ventilator.
- Must have completed a travel assignment within the past 15 months. First-time travelers will not be considered.
- Willingness to float across different units within the hospital as needed.
- Drivers license required.
- Skills checklist specific to Respiratory Therapy required.
Preferred Qualifications
- IDPH / Iowa Department of Public Health Respiratory Care and Polysomnography documentation preferred.
- Professional reference or performance evaluation from a charge/supervisor/manager within the past 24 months preferred.
Assignment Details
- Shift days: Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
- Start times: 0700 or 1900 based on staffing and census.
- 36 hours per week.
- Holiday rotation required if scheduled; expected to work 12 of 3 summer holidays when the unit is open (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day).
- No on-call required.
- Must be willing to float to other units within the hospital.
