Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist - Temporary

Rate of Pay: $57.16/hour + DOE (Base Pay of $54.44/hour includes 5% temporary differential)

Summary
Under the direct supervision of the manager, is responsible for providing patient care services consisting of various modalities and treatments in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures and as indicated by licensing agencies in the State of practice (CA/NV). The Sleep-Language Pathologist (SLP) is committed to providing high quality health care services and to accommodating to the changing needs of the various communities that Tahoe Forest Hospital serves. Each SLP needs to effectively utilize appropriate resources to ensure sensitive, personal care to individuals who require therapy services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Organizes and conducts medically prescribed Speech Therapy programs.
• Effectively utilizes appropriate resources to ensure sensitive, personal care to individuals who require speech therapy services.
• Plans individualized therapy programs for each patient.
• Collaborates with other team members and services in the hospital to assure that services and activities can be properly maintained to meet the needs of the patients.
• Applies diagnostic functional ability tests.
• Performs barium swallow studies, as applicable by department.
• Provides services for specific departments as determined by manager (may include outpatient, inpatient, home health, and ECC rehab and custodial patient service lines).
• Attends pertinent interdisciplinary meetings and case conferences.
• Helps coordinate transitional care SLP services.
• Evaluates, records, and reports patient progress for review.
• Assures that patients and visitors follow established policies and procedures at all times.
• Interprets SLP policies and procedures to patients and family members, as necessary.
• Participates in peer feedback to improve performance of line of service.
• Participates in specialty group discussions for driving important patient care initiatives.
• Clinician will practice fiscal responsibility and strive to maintain minimum targeted key performance indicators as set by Director of Therapy and Clinical Manager of department.
• Extends courtesy and consideration to others in interpersonal relationships.
• Demonstrates a professional manner in the workplace at all times.
• Seeks clarification of duties when needed.
• Channels suggestions, criticisms, and questions to appropriate personnel.
• Participates in the quality improvement process.
• Establishes good rapport with all team members, patients and other health care providers.
• SLP will participate in activities to meet the health needs of people locally, nationally, or globally.
• Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.
• Complies with System policies and procedures.
• Other duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience
Master's Degree from an accredited SLP therapy program with 60 credit hours in speech language pathology, be licensed to practice and accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)

1-2 years relevant experience

Required Licenses/Certifications
BLS: Employee will be enrolled in the Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) Basic Life Support (BLS) Entry or Prep Curriculum (depending on their previous BLS certification).

Other Experience/Qualifications

Required:

• California Speech-Language Pathologist license if practicing in California
• Nevada Speech-Language Pathologist license if practicing in Nevada
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in SLP
• Masters Degree from an accredited SLP program
