General Summary of Position
Possesses and demonstres adeque knowledge to provide respirory care to all pient populions with technique approprie to chronological social emotional cognitive and physical development. Respirory care delivered is ordered by physician according to established standards practice and protocols.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accredition regulions.
- Assesses the physical psychosocial spiritual & cultural dimensions of the pient as well as educional needs and appropriely documents.
- Performs all respirory therapy trements and services including but not limited to: applicion operion monitoring and management of all equipment and services provided. Service to include but not limited to: oxygen mixed gas and humidity; monitoring; ventilors (Invasive and Non-invasive); bronchial hygiene; lung expansion; Spirometry testing; EKG machines; Blood Gas Analysis.
- Employs principles of therapeutic communicion interviewing techniques problem solving and crisis intervention when performing pient care.
- Reviews electronic medical records and physician orders throughout work shift.
- Responds performs and participes in cardiopulmonary resuscition by maintaining the airway providing oxygen and ventilion via mask endotracheal tube or other devices and performs closed chest cardiac massage.
- Facilites workflow efficiency monitoring interdepartmental systems and processes departmental policies and procedures and making recommendions for improvements as needed.

Minimal Qualificions
Educion
- Associe's degree or higher from an AMA accredited program in respirory care required
- Bachelor's degree in reled healthcare field preferred
Experience
- 0-3 years of acute care experience required
- Registry eligible required
Licenses and Certificions
- CRT - Certified Respirory Therapist by the Nional Board for Respirory Care (NRBC) required
- RCP - Licensed Respirory Care Practitioner by the Nional Board for Respirory Care (NRBC) preferred
- Must process and maintain license to practice Respirory Care in Maryland
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscition (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Associion (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required
- Additional unit/specialty certificions may vary by department or business unit.
- ACLS NRP PALS and other certificions are required within a year where required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of human respirory anomy physiology and phology as reled to respirory care
- Knowledge of the operion of respirory care equipment and its applicion in a clinical setting
- Ability to assess hazardous conditions reled to respirory care and take corrective action
- Ability to remain calm and function under stressful conditions
- Must work well as a team member; must be articule and communice well with all types of people
