Staff Occupational Therapist - Occupational Therapy - Per Diem (8-Hr)

Job Summary :
The Per Diem Occupational Therapist will provide specialty Occupational Therapy services with diagnosis including evaluation, planning of individual patient care programs, treatments, documentation, educating patient and family, conferring with other interprofessional colleagues and performing related duties as required. Can also work in a variety of acute care hospital units, including Polytrauma, Neuro, Ortho, Medical/Surgical, Telemetry and population will include inpatient and outpatients. Work schedule will include day shift and some weekend scheduling. Therapists are members of ESC Local 20 union.
In addition to performing the essential functions listed below, may also be assigned other duties as required.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelors or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy
- Current CA license by the California Board of Occupational Therapy
- Current Basic Life Support Provider certificate from the American Heart Association.
- National Association of Neonatal Therapist (NANT) Certified
- Acute care, neuro, geriatric and Level II trauma patient population in both inpatient and outpatient care.
- Experience in Level 1 or 2 Trauma Hospital preferred.
- Work experience with the following populations desired
- Trauma
- Neonatal ICU ( 10+ Neonatal specific experience desired)
- Neuro (OP, Traumatic brain injury, Post-concussion)
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of Occupational Therapy.
- Understands conceptual underpinnings that form the basis of neonatal therapy.
- Experience and use of standard Occupational Therapy splinting and exercise equipment.
- Certifications desired - PAM, CBIS, CSRS,
- Ability to analyze situations, take appropriate action.
- Ability to express oneself clearly in speaking and in writing.
- Communication skills to collaborate with a large interprofessional team
- Must be open to mentoring, feedback and coaching,
- Emotional maturity, personal and professional integrity, and interest in growth and learning.
