Summer Recreation Aide (Temporary)

Essential Job Functions: Assists in implementing a variety of recreational activities and programs for summer camp; assists in preparing and distributing flyers and posters; assists in setting up recreational facilities for events; assists in preparing and maintaining calendars, bulletin boards and attendance records; assists in teaching recreational classes to youth, adults and persons with disabilities; may be required to perform general maintenance duties. Assists in distributing prepackaged meals to students; maintains food sites by picking up all trash and debris. Monitor student activity.

This position requires 100% onsite work. May be exposed to varying weather conditions. Work hours are typically between 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Some weekend work is required.

Knowledge: Knowledge of supervising youth while participating in recreational activities.

Skills/Abilities: Skill in working with youth; ability to interact with public groups and subordinates; ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.

Physical Requirements: Constantly sees and hears; frequently stands, stoops and writes by hand, files, walks, operates PC and twists body; infrequently operates a calculator, cleans, kneels, runs, squats, sits, climbs, carries, drags, holds, pushes, pulls and lifts objects weighing up to 100 lbs.

Education/Experience: Completion of 10th grade. Ability to establish and maintain relations with fellow employees, city officials and the general public.

This position requires 100% onsite work. Applicant selected for hire will be subject to a background investigation and drug/alcohol screen test.
