**Job Title:** Senior Speech Pathologist
**Department:** Otorhinolaryngology - Speech
**Location:** Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania- 3400 Spruce St
**Hours:** Mon-Fri office hours
**Summary:**
The Speech Pathologist will provide detailed differential diagnostic interpretations, recommendations and therapeutic services to adults presenting with voice and dysphagia of all etiologies, with an emphasis on voice/laryngology at our PENN Medicine at Radnor and PENN Medicine Washington Square locations. Caseload includes Videostroboscopy, FEES, MBS, and management of laryngectomy and tracheostomy. The successful candidate will work as a team player, participate in patient/physician outreach/education and manage patients voice and swallowing post-surgical and/or radiation treatment. The clinician will be expected to assist in the training of student interns, residents, present in-services and participate in research upon request or interest. The clinician will also assist with tasks and responsibilities as requested by the Director/supervisor.
**Responsibilities:** Competency in the delivery of evaluative and therapeutic skills for Skills Group 1, requiring no supervision. Competency in the delivery of evaluative and therapeutic skills for Skills Group 2/Specialized Skills Group with distant supervision as needed. Competency in the above areas are supported by training, clinical records, observation, testimony of peers and/or health care professionals:
**Skills Group 1**
+ Population:
+ Neurological, including but not limited to CVA, MS, Parkinsons Disease, ALS, Myasthenia Gravis, Guillain-Barre, Traumatic Brain Injury
+ Surgical, including but not limited to total laryngectomy, partial glossectomy, oro-pharyngeal resections, thyroplasty, mandiblectomy
+ Voice Disorders, including but not limited to vocal fold polyps, vocal fold nodules, vocal fold paralysis, presby larynx, MTD, professional voice and ILO
+ Diagnostics
+ Clinical Dysphagia Evaluation
+ Modified Barium Swallow/Videofluoroscopic Swallow/Study (VFSS)
+ Clinical Dysphagia Evaluation with tracheostomy tube
+ Voice evaluation with the tracheostomy tube, including PMSVs.
+ Voice evaluation with CSL
+ Alaryngeal voice evaluation
+ Motor speech evaluation
+ Speech and Language screening
**Skills Group 2 / Specialized Skills Group**
+ Population:
+ Surgical, including but not limited to total laryngectomy, partial/total glossectomy, oro-pharyngeal resections, thyroplasty, mandiblectomy, partial laryngectomy, total laryngectomy with primary and secondary TEP placement. Voice Disorders, including but not limited to vocal fold polyps, vocal fold nodules, vocal fold paralysis, presby larynx, and spasmodic dysphonia, MTD, Voice- Paradoxical vocal fold motion, ILO, Spasmodic Dysphonia.
+ Medical, including but not limited to radiation and/or chemotherapy for H/N CA, as well as voice and /swallowing issues associated with LPR/GERD.
+ Diagnostics
+ Clinical Dysphagia Evaluation.
+ Modified Barium Swallow/Videoflouroscopic Swallow/Study.
+ Clinical Dysphagia Evaluation with tracheostomy tube.
+ Voice evaluation with CSL
+ Alaryngeal voice evaluation.
+ Motor speech evaluation.
+ Speech and Language screening.
+ Evaluation/interpretation of Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES).
+ Evaluation/interpretation of Videostroboscopic voice evaluations.
+ Evaluation/Management of tracheoesophageal voice prosthesis..
+ Evaluation for stoma buttons, Barton Mayo laryngectomy tube.
**Education, Credentials, and Experience:**
+ Masters Degree and CCC in Speech Language Pathology or Clinical Doctorate in Speech Language Pathology (SLP-D)
+ Speech Language Pathologist (Required)
+ Minimum of 3 years experience in one or more areas of the Specialized Skills Group
+ Meets continuing education requirements for licensure
+ Completes 10 hours continuing education in one or more specialized skills group areas every 2 years
