Working closely with and reporting to the Director and Chair of the OTD Program, our faculty contribute to planning, coordinating, and delivering innovative coursework and lab experiences. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside dedicated colleagues across departments to ensure an exceptional learning experience for our students. As with all faculty positions at DMU, your work will encompass teaching, scholarly research, and meaningful service to the university and community.
What youll do:
- Deliver High-Quality Instruction : Teach occupational therapy students across various formatsincluding lectures, labs, simulations, and online platformswith a focus on evidence-based content in areas such as Pediatrics, OT Evaluation, and Assistive Technology.
- Lead and Develop Curriculum : Coordinate and update course syllabi; map didactic and clinical curricula to institutional and accreditation standards; and evaluate student learning outcomes while providing necessary remediation and mentorship.
- Engage in Scholarly Activity : Participate in academic research, pursue grant opportunities, present at conferences, contribute to peer-reviewed publications, and mentor student research and capstone projects.
- Contribute to Program and Institutional Service : Assist with curriculum and program review, accreditation efforts, admissions interviews, and serve on departmental, college, or university committees.
- Support the Mission of DMU : Represent the program at professional and community events, fulfill clinical or special assignments as needed, and participate in university-required training and professional development.
What we are looking for:
- Occupational therapist with an active Iowa license or eligibility for Iowa licensure.
- Doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE-recognized institutional accrediting agency; those in the process of completing a doctoral degree may be considered. The degrees are not limited to occupational therapy.
- Minimum of 3 years of practice experience.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Experience in teaching is preferred and highly desirable.
- Must possess or be eligible for licensure as an occupational therapist in Iowa and maintain an active occupational therapy license in Iowa while on faculty at Des Moines University.
