What Youll Be Doing- Perform bedside respiratory care and pulmonary treatments including nebulizer therapy, chest physiotherapy, airway clearance, and oxygen therapy
- Administer and monitor mechanical ventilation, adjusting parameters based on patient response and ABG analysis
- Assess patients through physical examination, chart review, and diagnostic testing to create individualized care plans
- Respond to emergencies including code blues and rapid response calls with calm expertise and clinical precision
- Document treatments, vitals, and outcomes in the electronic medical record system with accuracy and timeliness
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams on patient progress and discharge planning
- Educate patients and families on lung health, inhaler use, and preventive respiratory care strategies
- Uphold safety standards and infection control protocols while maintaining a calm, supportive presence at the bedside
- Associate of Science Degree from an AMA-approved Respiratory Care Program required
- Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy preferred
- Current Connecticut Respiratory Care Practitioner license (required)
- National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential (required)
- BLS and ACLS certification (required)
- NRP certification (required prior to working in neonatal/pediatric units)
- Minimum one year of acute care experience preferred
- Strong clinical judgment in high-acuity environments
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in EMR systems and familiarity with advanced ventilator technology
