PeaceHealth is seeking a Respiratory Therapist Lead for a Full Time, 0.90 FTE, Day position.

The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $44.97 - $66.97.

The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.

Job Summary

Provides Cardio-Pulmonary services to patients as prescribed by physicians. Works collaboratively with all healthcare team members toward the best outcomes for the patient and the organization. Cares for the Cardio-Pulmonary needs of complex critical patients from newborn to the adult in an independent manner.

Essential Functions

  • Directs patient care activities on the unit for the shift by making/adjusting staff assignments and ensures optimal patient outcomes.
  • Acts as a clinical resource on procedures and standards for staff and physicians. Monitors staff compliance.
  • Initiates investigation of incident reports when situation necessitates immediate action; otherwise refers for further evaluation/action as appropriate to Clinical Supervisor/Manager and/or Director.
  • Performs essential functions of the staff Respiratory Therapist.
  • Participates in various intermittent department tasks including, but not limited to, audits, quality assurance, statistical record keeping, patient charting and other special projects as specified by Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Accredited Program Required: Respiratory Care Program. 2-year AMA-approved Respiratory Care Program

Experience

  • Required: Minimum of 2 years' experience in acute care as a Respiratory Therapist and
  • Preferred: Experience in adult ICU, Pediatrics, and Neonatal and
  • Required: Must be able to care for patients from neonate to adult independently

Credentials

  • Required : Respiratory Care Practitioner - Oregon or
  • Required : Respiratory Care Practitioner - Washington Washington caregivers who were employed as of 6/29/2014 and who are licensed RCP but are not registry eligible due to the educational requirement (i.e., began working as a respiratory therapist when a 2-year degree was not required/available) will be grandfathered for this requirement and
  • Required within 6 months: Registered Respiratory Therapist and
  • Required : Basic Life Support

Skills

  • Proficient with MS Office applications (Required)
  • Previous leadership experience (Preferred)
  • Must be able to set up, operate, and trouble shoots all respiratory related equipment in a quick and efficient manner. (Required)
  • Must know how all respiratory equipment operates, the limits abilities, and how the equipment effects patients (Required)
  • Must be able to quickly assess acute, critical care resident situations and respond with a decisive and appropriate course of action. (Required)

Department / Location Specific Notes

PHSW:

  • Minimum 4 years of Respiratory Therapy experience; preferred 6 years.
  • Experience in adult critical care units, ER, and Floors within the last 6 months.
  • Must be familiar with and able to troubleshoot advanced Respiratory Therapies and equipment.
  • Able to support NICU/pediatric if required; set up equipment, attend low risk deliveries, and assist in other duties as assigned after initial training.
  • Must maintain competencies, skills, and recurring education in all areas as assigned.
  • PALS, ACLS, NRP and BLS are all required upon hire.

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
  • Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
  • Lifting (non-patient)/carrying occasionally up to 25 lbs.
  • Push/Pull: 1-25 lbs. of force occasionally (i.e., moving equipment).
  • Stooping/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling occasionally.

Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
  • Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting or in office environment.

Mental/Visual

  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
