Title: Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (Part - Time or Itinerant)
QUALIFICATIONS:
N. J. Occupational Therapy Assistant Certification.
Be of good character and reputation.
Be in good physical and mental health.
Be responsible, dependable, self-reliant, and display initiative.
Be able to take direction and supervision.
Be physically capable of lifting, positioning and caring for handicapped children.
Be sensitive to the nature and needs of the handicapped and their families
Required Criminal History background check and proof of U.S. Citizenship or legal resident alien status.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may deem appropriate.
REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Child Study Team/Related Services
- Assist in the planning and implementation of special programs and services necessary in meeting the individual needs of the students.
- Work cooperatively with the Child Study Team, parents, guardians, and teachers, to develop Individualized Educational Programs for each child.
- Upon receipt of physicians prescription, assist in scheduling and implementing therapy for students.
- Provides therapy in individual or group situations, as supervised by the Occupational Therapist.
- Act as a liaison between brace and wheelchair providers as needed.
- Assist in the development of in-service training programs for school personnel in his/her field of competence when appropriate.
- Assist in purchasing for the department and tracking of orders received.
- Assist in the coordination of classroom equipment, monitoring needs and distribution.
- Assist in the following: keeping department files up to date, distribution of report cards and student progress notes within the facility when asked.
- Attend staff and professional meetings.
