Essential functions: The speech-language pathologist provides evaluation, consultation and treatment in the areas of articulation, language, fluency, and voice. The speech-language pathologist participates as a member of an interdisciplinary team designed to conduct student assessments, develop Intervention Plans and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). He/she assists in special education team decisions for instructional and/or support programs. Qualifications: The speech-language pathologist must have an M.A. degree in Speech Pathology, Communication Disorders or related field and hold the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education certificate endorsement as a speech-language pathologist.

Responsibilities: In accordance with the provisions of the Massachusetts General Laws and applicable regulations, the speech-language pathologists duties shall include:1.Conduct screening procedures to identify children who may have communication deficits.2.Conduct assessments to determine student eligibility for speech and/or language services.3.Provide assistance to local Instructional Support Team, development of Intervention Plans, acting as a case manager on an intervention plans and monitoring student progress on IEPs.4.Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans for students, providing direct speech-language pathology services for students.5.Consults in the planning and development of IEPs, and is a contributing participant in Team meetings.6.Maintain a current knowledge of speech-language practices and related areas of special education.7.Disseminate appropriate information regarding speech-language services to parents, teachers, and others.8.Maintain confidentiality of all student information.9.Comply with State and Federal rules and regulations and district policies and procedures.10.Maintain data required for use in LEA, state and federal reporting.11.Assume such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the special education director.
