POSITION OVERVIEW:
Lake Area Technical College is seeking a part-time Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Lab Aide to support the OTA Program by assisting faculty in the lab setting and supervising students during hands-on instruction. This position is ideal for an experienced OTA professional who is passionate about education, student success, and contributing to the future of the profession.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Extensive knowledge of the Occupational Therapy Assistant profession with a minimum of three years of experience in the profession preferred.
- Minimum of a Diploma in Occupational Therapy Assistant required.
- Computer literate.
- Excellent interpersonal communication, creative thinking and problem-solving skills, dedication to working with a diverse population of students, and collaboration with coworkers in a team environment.
- Bilingual a plus.
REPORTS TO: Occupational Therapy Assistant Department Supervisor, Assistant Dean of Academics, Vice President
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist Occupational Therapy Assistant instructors in the lab setting.
- Responsible for lab preparation under the direction of the department instructors.
- Supervise students in a laboratory environment regarding professional theories, techniques, and structures within the Occupational Therapy profession.
- Document student performance and provide feedback to the instructors. Direct assessment or evaluation of the student performance is the responsibility of the course instructor.
- Work in partnership with the other faculty members to maintain an effective teaching team.
- Assist with student recruitment and promotion for Lake Area Tech and program.
- Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Occupational Therapy Assistant Lab Aide hours set by the Department Supervisor and may vary. Total hours up to 255 per semester. Hourly rate set at $20.70 per hour paid monthly.
