Respiratory Therapist PFT

Job Summary : To perform pulmonary function tests (PFTs) on both outpatients and inpatients, to include, basic spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion tests, methacholine testing, etc. Will maintain all records in the PFT lab, such as calibration logs and monthly biologic testing. Will also work, as needed, on the floors setting up and managing various types of respiratory therapy equipment including the various oxygen delivery systems, nebulizers, BiPAP/CPAPs, and mechanical ventilation. This will include management of protocols and administration of prescribed doses of respiratory therapy inhaled drugs to inpatients and outpatients. Ability to perform arterial sticks for blood gas analysis and various bedside procedures to assess pulmonary status .

Qualifications: Completion of an approved respiratory therapy program and licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in the state of North Carolina. The RRT credential is required for employment. Considerable knowledge of respiratory care, terminology, pulmonary function testing procedures, and techniques. Ability to deal tactfully with patients, physicians, and other hospital staff. Must be able to problem solve, handle emergencies, and have time management skills. BLS and ACLS required.
