Description
- Assess patients spanning pediatric to geriatric groups using standardized tests and observation techniques.
- Create individualized treatment plans targeting both immediate goals and the long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing objectives.
- Deliver personalized speech therapy designed for focusing on communication, language, fluency, voice, and swallowing needs.
- Collaborate with physical therapists, occupational therapists, nursing staff, physicians, caregivers, and families to forge comprehensive care strategies.
- Provide education to patients and their families to bolster progress outside of therapy sessions.
- Occasionally engage in inpatient speech therapy evaluations and interventions to ensure uninterrupted care throughout the treatment path.
- Maintain precise and timely records in compliance with state, federal, and organizational standards.
- Continue to grow in your field through ongoing education and collaboration with peers.
Education
- Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if ASHA certification is not yet obtained.
Certifications
- Licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist in the state.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of starting the position.
