This job providesrespiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing andventilation support services to both in-patients and out-patientsranging in age from neonatal to geriatric. The RT-CRT set-ups,monitors and weans Oxygen Therapy and Artificial ventilation. TheRT-CRT draws, analyzes and reports Arterial Blood Gases and EKGs.The RT-CRT delivers intermittent therapy and assists with changingof artificial airways. The RT-CRT provides services as ordered by aphysician and in accordance with established policies andprocedures. Education Required - Associate's DegreePreferred- Bachelor's Degree Work Experience Required - None.Certifications Required - Current License as a RespiratoryTherapist in the state of practice Certification by the NationalBoard of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory TherapistBasic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart AssociationAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 90days of hire Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must beobtained within 90 days of hire Knowledge Skills and Abilities(KSAs) - Must have computer skills and dexterity required for dataentry and retrieval of information. - Effective verbal and writtencommunication skills and the ability to present information clearlyand professionally. - Must be proficient with Windows-styleapplications, various software packages specific to role andkeyboard. - Strong interpersonal skills. Job Duties - Performsroutine and advanced therapeutic procedures according toestablished policy and procedure. - Reviews and documents allclinical information regarding each patient. - Educates patientsand co-workers on procedures and treatment plans. - Performsdiagnostic procedures. - Provides care based on physical;psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria,appropriate to the age of patient served in assigned area. - Adaptsbehavior to the specific patient population, including but notlimited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to thepatient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to beperformed, requesting permissions and communication style. Must be able to sit or stand for prolongedperiods of time. Must be able to travel throughout and betweenfacilities. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule (24/7,weekend, holiday, on call availability). Duties performed routinelyrequire exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue. The incumbentworks in a patient care area; works in an area where patientsenter; works directly with patients; and/or works with specimensthat could contain diseases. There may be an occupational risk forexposure to all communicable diseases. Because the incumbent workswithin a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk forexposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within theenvironment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation,dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal ofcontaminated waste.
