REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Student Services Director

OVERVIEW:

Central Berkshire Regional School District is looking for a full time Speech and Language Pathology Assistant (SLP/A) to work throughout the district. The SLP/A works under the supervision of a speech and language pathologist to deliver services to students as outlined within their individualized educational plan. The qualifications and responsibilities are as follows:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful complete of a school speech language pathology assistant program or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Licensed by the Massachusetts Board of Registration for Speech Language Pathology and Audiology
  • Experience in school based practice preferred

RESPOSIBILITIES:

  • Provide speech language services to students Pre-K through grade 12 who have speech and language related disabilities
  • Work under the direct supervision of a licensed Speech/Language Pathologist (SLP)
  • Demonstrate verbal and written communication skills with students, parents, staff and administration.
  • Provide speech and language development services as per the IEP
  • Consult and/or co-teach with classroom teachers and recommend communication systems/approaches, which will maximize student growth.
  • Attend IEP meetings as required
  • Provide narrative progress reports on all pupils on caseload
  • Prepares materials and activities for therapy sessions
  • Function as part of a team to help our student develop skills for success in everyday life around effective communication.
  • Keeps data for program planning and decision making for students.
  • Safeguards confidentiality of student records.
  • Adheres to established rules, regulations, laws and appropriate ethical standards.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of federal, state and local rules, regulations and laws.
  • Complies with established lines of authority within the parameters of professional standards.
  • Perform other duties relating to program as required.
  • Assist classroom teacher and/or special education teacher in implementing accommodations and/or modifications for students requiring such supports.
