Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy

Position Reports to: Director of the Occupational Therapy Program and Dean of Graduate, Digital, and Continued Learning

The University of Mount Union invites applications for the Open Rank Faculty Member position for the developing Master of Occupational Therapy Program . This is a 12-month appointment. The program is designed as a low-residency hybrid program providing flexibility to s tudents and faculty . However, there are on-campus requirements for faculty regularly.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility for this role is teaching in the MSOT pro g ram . Faculty members will be responsible for developing instructional materials and content for imm e rsive experiences. Faculty have opportunities for building an academic career involving t ea ching, coll a b ora tion , professional growth , and scholarship. Addition a l ongoin g duties include stude nt men toring , advisin g, c urriculum development and evalu a tion, participation in program admissions and asse ssment processes , d epart mental and university service (as needed).

Qualifications

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of clinical practice e x perience as an o c c upational therapist; preference will be given to those with clinical experience in neuro, adult, and/or geriatric practice
  • Teaching experience in higher educ a ti on, p r eferably in a h y brid or online learning environment
  • Scholarly activity, preferred
Licensure, Certification, Memberships:
  • Current or eligible for Ohio o c cupational therapi st li cen se
  • Current NBCOT certification
  • Current AOTA membership
Knowledge, Skill s , A bilities:
  • Commitment t o th e Univer si t y of Mount U nio n mission and MSOT program mission
  • Ab i lity to work indep e ndentl y
  • Stron g organizational s kills
  • Stron g t e chnology skills (D 2 L (pre ferre d) , MS Office, Simucase, EHR,etc.)
  • Knowledge of ACOTE st an dards related to program administration, teaching , and fieldwork requirements
  • Current practice knowled g e i n the field of occupational therapy
  • Ability to work c o ll a borati v ely and inter-professionally
  • Proficient English communication skills (reading , writing)
  • Able to maintain highest levels of confidentiality
  • Respect for individuals with diverse backgrounds and abilities
  • Ability to represent the program and university in a positive and professional manner Physical ability to assist in learning labs , demonstrate a pplicable skills to students, lift and / or move 25-50 pounds , use equipment necessary to train students, sit or stand for extended periods and do so safely across environments.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree required
  • This position is required to c o mplete assigned University compliance training as communicated by the University .
