Position Responsibilities

  • Assess patients across all demographics using both standardized measures and observational methods.
  • Create individualized treatment plans addressing immediate and long-range communication, cognitive, and swallowing needs.
  • Deliver individualized speech therapy sessions focusing on communication modalities including language, fluency, voice, and swallowing.
  • Collaborate with physical therapists, occupational therapists, physicians, nurses, families, and caregivers to build comprehensive care plans.
  • Provide education to patients and families, empowering them to support progress beyond therapy sessions.
  • Participate in occasional inpatient therapy assessments to maintain continuity of care throughout the recovery process.
  • Keep accurate and timely records that comply with all relevant guidelines at the state, federal, and organizational levels.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development via education and peer interactions.

Education Requirements

  • Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not ASHA-certified.

Required Certifications

  • State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist .
  • Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be acquired within 30 days of starting employment.

  • Experience with evidence-based treatment techniques across age groups, including an understanding of developmental and acquired speech and language disorders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
