FT Occupational Therapist | Willow Creek Behavioral Health | Green Bay, Wisconsin About the Job: The Occupational Therapist treats patients through the therapeutic use of everyday activities and recreational therapy. Responsible for providing a comprehensive evaluation of performance components affecting Activities of Daily Living (ADL) functioning and providing goal-oriented treatment to facilitate maximum level of independence. Helps patients develop, recover and improve the skills needed for daily living and working. Roles and Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reviews patient medical history, ask questions and observe patient's completing tasks to evaluate condition and needs. Develops a treatment plan for patients, identify specific goals and types of activities that will be used to help the patient work toward set goals. Plans and conducts group therapy and occasional individual sessions in accordance with the patient's treatment plan, program structures, department philosophy, and guidelines of Occupational Therapy practice. Helps people with various disabilities with different tasks, demonstrates exercises, evaluates a patient's home or workplace and based on the patient's health needs, identifies potential improvements. Educates a patient's family and employer about how to accommodate and care for the patient. Recommends special equipment, such as wheelchairs and eating aids and instructs patients on how to use that equipment. Maintains a consistent therapeutic milieu as outlined in hospital policy and procedures and according to program structures. Completes routine paperwork within the prescribed time frames; i.e., initial assessments, master treatment plans, progress notes, statistics, and billing. Attends designated team meetings and conferences. Contributes Occupational Therapy information and observations to interdisciplinary team members and physicians during the appropriate treatment team staffing. Assists in ordering and maintaining the Occupational Therapy supplies/equipment. Reports the need for equipment service/repairs to the supervisor or the program director/nurse coordinator. Assesses and records patient activities and progress for patient evaluations, for billing and for reporting to physicians and other healthcare providers. May work with children in educational settings, evaluating disabled children's abilities, modify classroom equipment to accommodate children with certain disabilities and help children participate in school activities. May work with patients who suffer from developmental disabilities, mental illness or emotional problems. May teach these patients skills such as managing time, budgeting, using public transportation and doing household chores in order to help them cope with and engage in daily life activities. May work with individuals who have problems with drug abuse, alcoholism, depression or other disorders. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Complies with organizational policies, procedures, performance improvement initiatives and maintains regulatory and industry standards. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Accepts responsibility for professional growth and development of self and attends all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Occupational Therapy required. One or more years' experience working with population of the facility required. LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS: Current active Occupational Therapist license or eligible for endorsement by the state in which the facility provides services. CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility). First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
