Travel Respiratory Therapist - NICU RT

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist with NICU and adult critical care experience for a night shift, float-required contract in Virginia.

Responsibilities
  • Position works in a Level III NICU, adult ICU Stepdown, emergency department, pediatric unit, and other hospital floors
  • Community acute care hospital setting with Level II Trauma Center designation
  • Night shift hours are 7:00pm to 7:00am, with three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Requires floating to adult, pediatric, ER, and ICU units as needed
  • Weekend shifts required every other weekend and every other holiday
  • Mandatory on-call up to 2 shifts per month may be required
  • Charting is done in Epic; Epic experience preferred
  • NICU assignments will vary based on patient acuity and are not exclusive to NICU
  • Duties include providing aerosol, bronchial hygiene, and lung inflation therapies, as well as managing and analyzing arterial blood gases
  • Attendance at monthly department meetings required, or acknowledgment of minutes if not present
  • Must complete up to 8 hours of online modules within one week of acceptance
  • Wine-colored scrubs are required
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
  • First-time travelers are accepted
  • All requests for time off are subject to manager discretion
  • Return staff must be gone for at least one year before returning as a traveler
Requirements
  • Current VA Respiratory Care Practitioner license or Compact equivalent required if applicable
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT) required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 90 days of start
  • Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience required
  • Proficiency in airway management, medication administration, arterial blood gases, O2 therapy, suctioning, BiPAP, CPAP, and nebulizer treatments
  • Experience in adult critical care and ER required
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials preferred
