OTR Occupational Therapist - Inpatient Care

Job Summary: Provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment for patients with musculoskeletal, vascular, and neurological conditions, tailoring care to individual needs. Educate patients, families, healthcare associates, and the community on preventative care and rehabilitation techniques. Act as a vital liaison among patients, families, physicians, nursing staff, and social services to ensure coordinated and effective therapy services.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Utilize clinical expertise and sound judgment to deliver high-quality care across all age groups, from pediatric to geriatric patients.
  • Operate therapeutic equipment such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation units, mechanical traction, and wound care devices.
  • Guide patients in the use of assistive devices, orthotics, prosthetics, and exercise equipment.
  • Assist patients with mobility, strengthening exercises, muscle reeducation, gait training, and activities of daily living.
  • Adapt therapy techniques for patients with cognitive or physical limitations to ensure effective treatment.
  • Maintain thorough documentation in compliance with regulatory and departmental standards.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives, including peer review and patient care evaluations.
  • Foster excellent communication and customer service with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Supervise aides, students, and volunteers as needed.
  • Support departmental functions and contribute to staff education and professional development.
Education and Experience:

Graduation from an accredited Physical, Occupational, or Speech Therapy program recognized by the American Occupational Therapy Association or equivalent accrediting bodies. A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree is required. Commitment to ongoing professional education and active participation in relevant professional organizations is expected.

Licensure and Certifications:
  • Must hold or be eligible for licensure in the applicable state.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
