Job Summary
Bachelor's Degree and/or Master's Degree in Speech, Language, Pathology, or Communication Science and Disorders.
A valid California Clinical or Rehabilitative Services credential (or equivalency) authorizing service as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCCs)
Valid California Driver's License
Job Description / Essential Elements:
Job Responsibilities
To provide a comprehensive speech and language program for all students that demonstrate a communication deficit that impairs their ability to access the curriculum; to educate parents and teachers regarding the needs of their student's deficit.
1. Respond to the referrals that are generated by parents and teachers.
2. Screen each child that has been referred to determine if they are exhibiting skills that are within age-appropriate limits or demonstrating a speech and language deficit.
3. Identify speech and language impairments which consist of speech disorders (differentiate between articulation or phonological process deficits), fluency, voice, language disorder involving morphology, semantics, syntax, or pragmatic systems.
4. Interpret the findings of the assessments to determine if LAS services are warranted.
5. Prescribes and implements treatment plans designed to meet the individual communication needs of each student
6. Provide therapy for individuals and small groups of children with speech and language disorders.
7. Provide guidance and education for parents, students, and teachers regarding speech and/or language impairments.
8. Develop and implement Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) to enable each student to achieve their maximum level of proficiency.
9. Schedule and notify the IEP team members of the pending initial, annual reviews, and the triennial reviews.
10. Plan and evaluate the speech and language program and implement changes when needed.
11. Develop computer skills to perform the daily requirements of the Welligent IEP Program n order to generate the required IEP forms and the documentation that is required on a daily basis.
12. Pursue continuous professional growth by way of attending educational seminars presented locally and nationally that are approved by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
