Job Summary: Provide expert evaluation and treatment for patients with musculoskeletal, vascular, and neurological conditions, tailoring care to individual needs. Educate patients, families, healthcare associates, and the community on preventative care and rehabilitation techniques. Act as a vital link between patients, families, physicians, nursing staff, and social services to ensure coordinated and compassionate physical therapy services.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Utilize clinical judgment and specialized skills to deliver high-quality care across all age groups, from pediatric to geriatric patients. This includes assessment, treatment planning, implementation, patient and family education, safety instruction, and effective communication with all relevant parties.
  • Operate therapeutic equipment such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, mechanical traction, exercise devices, wound care tools, and hospital beds.
  • Guide patients in the use of assistive devices, braces, orthotics, prosthetics, and orthopedic equipment.
  • Support patients through mobility and strengthening exercises, muscle reeducation, gait training, activities of daily living, and functional training.
  • Adapt physiotherapeutic techniques for patients who may have difficulty understanding verbal instructions or performing exercises independently.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of patient care in compliance with regulatory standards and departmental policies.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives, including peer review and patient care evaluations.
  • Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills with patients, families, and colleagues, ensuring positive communication and customer service.
  • Collaborate effectively with intra- and interdepartmental teams to enhance patient care and service delivery.
  • Supervise and mentor aides, students, and volunteers within the department.
  • Contribute to departmental functions and educational efforts as directed by leadership.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development and self-education relevant to clinical practice and patient diagnoses.

Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from an accredited Physical, Occupational, or Speech Therapy program recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association, American Occupational Therapy Association, or American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
  • Completion of continuing education courses relevant to clinical practice and professional responsibilities.
  • Active involvement in professional organizations at local, state, and national levels as appropriate.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree required.

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Must hold or be eligible for licensure in the applicable state.
  • Current CPR certification required.

Work Environment: Full-time position with first shift hours in a healthcare facility located in a regional area of the Midwest United States.
