Category Schools - COTA Job Type Contract A Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) is sought for a full contract term at an elementary school in Joliet, IL, serving Pre-K through 5th grade students. This role offers the opportunity to deliver critical support to young learners, promoting their independence and helping them achieve occupational therapy goals within an educational setting. Position Details: Contract Duration: August 25, 2025 - June 5, 2026 Hours: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM Location: Elementary School in Joliet, IL Caseload: Pre-K to 5th grade students Key Responsibilities: Assist students in developing and reaching occupational therapy goals through tailored interventions. Implement therapeutic activities under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Collaborate with teachers, speech therapists, and special education staff to create and execute individualized treatment plans. Conduct student assessments, monitor progress, and maintain documentation to support Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Cultivate an inclusive classroom environment that fosters student growth and skill development. Provide guidance to parents and caregivers to encourage therapy continuation beyond the school. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay abreast of best practices. Qualifications: Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA). Experience in school-based or pediatric occupational therapy settings is preferred but not mandatory. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with students, families, and educators. Flexibility and creativity in adapting therapeutic approaches to diverse student needs. Excellent organizational and time management abilities to handle caseload and documentation efficiently. Commitment to supporting the developmental needs of students with disabilities.
