Job Summary

Assistive Technology Occupational Therapist Needed for Spaulding Rehab

Seeking ATEC Occupational Therapist for outpatient setting to support individuals with complex medical and functional needs through the integration of AT solutions that promote independence and enhance quality of life.

Individual will demonstrate strong clinical competency in assistive technology evaluations and interventions, with experience in areas of computer and device access, environmental control systems, cognitive and learning aids, and switch access.

In addition to providing specialized AT services, the therapist will also treat a diverse caseload including individuals with orthopedic and neurologic conditions in a standard outpatient clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive AT evaluations to improve mobility, access, communication, and environmental control.
  • Collaborate with patients, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized AT solutions.
  • Provide education, training, and ongoing support in the use of adaptive equipment and assistive technologies.
  • Document all services accurately and contribute to interdisciplinary care planning.

Helps people of all ages to participate in the activities and occupations that are important to them. Routinely works with individuals who have physical, cognitive, developmental, or emotional challenges that affect their ability to perform everyday tasks.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct assessments of patients' physical, mental, and developmental abilities.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessments.
  • Implement and monitor treatment plans, adjusting as needed.
  • Provide education to patients and their families about therapeutic activities and exercises they can do at home.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, nurses, and physical therapists, to provide comprehensive care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and progress notes.
  • Attend staff meetings, continuing education programs, and professional development activities to stay current with new techniques and best practices.

Qualifications

Education

Master's Degree Occupational Therapy required

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Occupational Therapist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (or eligible for licensure).
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in assistive technology and environmental access solutions.
  • Familiarity with funding sources and documentation requirements for AT services.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Preferred: Experience working with outpatient neuro and/or orthopedic populations.

Experience
