Speech/Language Pathologist (0.8 FTE)

High School District 214 is seeking a dedicated and passionate Speech/Language Pathologist to join our dynamic team. This part-time (0.8 FTE) position will require travel to multiple locations within the High School District 214 attendance area. This rewarding opportunity allows you to significantly impact students' communication and language development across our diverse student population.

About the Position

As a Speech/Language Pathologist, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing comprehensive Speech/Language programs that align with the district's Special Education Program. You will foster close collaboration with parents, Student Services staff, building staff, and administrators to provide targeted interventions. Your expertise will support students in areas such as expressive and receptive language, voice, fluency, speech articulation, and alternative communication methods.

You will work with students with a range of special education eligibilities, helping them achieve their IEP goals and enhancing their communication skills essential for academic and social success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Eligibility: Establish and implement screening and diagnostic processes to determine eligibility for Speech/Language services under special education laws.

  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team to conduct case studies and Speech/Language/Hearing evaluations for potential special education students.

  • Therapy and Intervention: Provide individualized, group, and in-classroom therapy for students with speech or language IEPs.

  • Data Collection and Reporting: Administer pre- and post-therapy measures and maintain accurate speech and language records and reports.

  • Consultation and Support: Provide consultative and support services to students, parents, special education teachers, and regular classroom teachers.

  • Interagency Collaboration: Collaborate with special education staff and NSSEO services to ensure coordinated service delivery.

  • Transition Planning: Work with junior high/middle schools to support the transition of IEP students to high school.

  • Hearing Screenings: Administer hearing screening tests to identified or referred students.

  • Staff Development: Provide staff development opportunities for school personnel.

  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Principal for Student Services, Division Head, or Program Director.

Qualifications:

  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Speech-Language Pathologist endorsement.

  • Ability to speak Spanish, Ukrainian or Russian is preferred.

  • Experience working with students with diverse special education needs is highly preferred.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Knowledge of assistive technology and alternative communication methods.

  • Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
