Salary: Based on experience and educational attainment
Qualifications:
Graduation from a four year accredited program of occupational therapy (required) and two years of experience or A Master's Degree in occupational therapy NC Occupational Therapist License
Essential Job Functions:
- Evaluates students' abilities through a variety of functional and behavioral assessments and collection of information
- Provides direct therapy through various activities to develop and maintain living skills
- Participates in the multi-disciplinary meetings to develop Individual Education Plans
- Designs and constructs or modified special equipment to meet individual needs
- Prepares sensory diets for students as appropriate
- Instructs and monitors educational personnel, community agencies, and parents in the program to increase strength and dexterity of exceptional students
- Coordinates the development and evaluation of a school-wide occupational therapy program
- Projects budget needs to support OT program
- Maintains clinical and administrative records in accordance with state guidelines and school policy
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Read, comprehend, and prepare various kinds of communication and information including emails, correspondence, reports, articles, spreadsheets, staff development plans, educational forms and data
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; ability to communicate well with school personnel, employees, and central office staff.
- Demonstrate functional knowledge of computers and all aspects of the Microsoft Office Professional software programs.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignment.
- Comply with confidentiality requirements in local, state and federal policies and statutes.
Physical Requirements:
- This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force
- Work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger motions
- Work occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, etc.
- Work has standard vision requirements
- Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken work; hearing is
required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels
