Are you a dedicated Occupational Therapist looking for a unique and rewarding opportunity? UPMC is seeking a full-time Occupational Therapist to join our team. This position typically works Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with some scheduling flexibility based on departmental needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Excellence: Provide occupational therapy assessment and treatment using advanced clinical skills in a specialty area for patients referred to both non-contracted and contracted facilities of the Rehabilitation Institute.
  • Documentation: Maintain written documentation for all occupational therapy services rendered, including initial assessments, follow-up visits, and discharge summaries, consistent with department standards. Co-sign occupational therapy assistant documentation biweekly.
  • Communication: Communicate patient status to referring physicians and other healthcare team members.
  • Productivity: Schedule patients to achieve and maintain a level of productivity that meets or exceeds the standard established for the facility, ensuring quality patient care.
  • Home Instructions: Provide verbal and/or written home instructions to patients and/or family members when applicable.
  • Clinical Education: Participate in the organization's clinical education program by providing clinical supervision of students completing internships from various universities.
  • Professional Development: Maintain professional licensure/registration through continuous participation in appropriate continuing education and professional development opportunities.
  • Patient Care: Perform occupational therapy assessment, reassessment, and treatment, and supervise occupational therapy assistants in the treatment of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Develop and adjust plans of care based on patient response and status changes.
  • Team Collaboration: Rotate through selected treatment areas as needed to facilitate organizational needs. Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and in-service education programs.
