Occupational Therapist Overview

Provides clinical occupational therapy for Melmark individuals.

Schedule and Salary Information

  • Monday- Friday 8am-4p
  • Starting Salary: $70,720.00 (+) based on years of experience

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Occupational Therapy program with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
  • Current Pennsylvania license for occupational therapy and NBCOT registration.
  • A valid U.S. state driver’s license with a minimum of two years driving experience and a minimum age of twenty-one (21) years old. Must be capable of obtaining approved Melmark driver status.
  • A minimum of two (2) years occupational therapy experience preferred. A minimum of one (1) year experience in related field preferred.

Occupational Therapist Responsibilities

  • Evaluates the client’s ability and formulates the individual’s occupational profile through a variety of functional, behavioral, and standardized assessments, skilled observations, checklists, histories, and interviews.
  • Adapts and modifies the environment including assistive technology and training instructional staff to meet the individual needs and to help the client function as independently as possible.
  • Records progress of each individual receiving occupational therapy on charts. Evaluates information and makes appropriate recommendation for continued, modified and revised occupational therapy treatment.
  • Provides targeted, evidence-based therapeutic intervention to facilitate client participation and occupational performance.
  • Develops occupationally based intervention plans based on client needs and evaluation results.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offers recommendations, and develops plans and interventions to achieve IEP, IPP, and ISP goals.
  • Collaborates with other disciplines to ensure team understanding of client’s occupational performance strengths and needs, through evaluation, educational program planning and service delivery.
  • Teaches, monitors and collaborates with treatment staff to increase understanding of the client’s occupational performance.
  • Provides assistance to individuals and staff on the use, care and maintenance of adaptive equipment. Educates Melmark staff on adaptive equipment and problem solves when necessary.
