The Clinical Speech-Language Pathology Fellow provides diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients with communication and swallowing disorders under the supervision of an ASHA-certified Clinical Speech-Language Pathologist. This fellowship offers structured mentorship, with a primary SLP mentor and support from a team of licensed colleagues. Fellows will gradually transition into direct patient care, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to departmental activities, including equipment and material maintenance.
A caregiver in this position works Monday- Friday 8:00am 5:00 pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform diagnostic speech pathology test procedures and evaluate communication and swallowing function of patients under the supervision of a staff Clinical Speech Pathologist.
Interprets and reports on test results to facilitate medical diagnosis.
Provides counseling and education about communication and diagnosis to patients and their families.
Determines therapeutic plan, including need for therapy, frequency of treatment, focus for intervention, prognosis and duration of therapy.
Selects assistive speech devices to improve patient's communication, performs re-evaluation to determine progress after therapy under the supervision of a staff Clinical Speech Pathologist.
Provides observations about hearing and other behavior to help determine the need for other services.
Maintains records of all services.
Communicates results and recommendations for improving communicative function to referral sources and outside agencies such schools and employers.
Maintains speech pathology equipment and materials.
Assists with planning, service or project development, purchase of new equipment or materials.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Masters in Speech Language Pathology
Must hold or be eligible for a Speech-Language Pathology Conditional License (COND.SP) from the State Board of Speech Language Pathology & Audiology.
Must hold Conditional License in current state upon start date. Meets all academic and practicum guidelines established by the American Speech Language Hearing Association, for Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP).
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Additional fellowship or internship level experience preferred but not required .

Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Manual dexterity and visual acuity to perform tests.
Personal Protective Equipment:
