Required:
- Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy
Preferred:
- 1-3 years experience in clinical practice
Certifications and Licenses Required:
- Licensed or eligible for Occupational Therapist licensure in New Jersey. Must have NJ license upon hire but will interview license eligible
Essential Functions:
- Arranges Daily Schedule as needed
- Takes patients at scheduled time
- Exhibits flexibility in dealing with daily scheduling issues (ie: patient late)
- Works well with front desk staff in the scheduling of patients
- Makes multiple attempts to see patients when conflicts arise
- Performs evaluations in a timely manner and consistent with department policy
- Treatment plan reflects the needs of patients identified in the evaluation
- Provides treatment that includes but is not limited to: - Therapeutic Exercises, ADL Training (transfers, dressing), Patient and Family Education, Other duties within the legal scope of practice
- Prioritizes patient needs according to department policy/professional standards, New Jersey and Federal statute/regulations
- Shows willingness to assist other staff members in meeting their patient care responsibilities
- Documentation: - Uses only approved abbreviations, Reviews and cosigns COTA notes, Performs and documents reevaluations as necessary, Keeps accurate statistics and are available in a timely fashion
- Supervises Rehabilitation Aides in their patient related duties
- Insures that Aides use proper techniques when assisting a therapist with a patient
- Follows all legal/regulatory restrictions regarding the use of Aides
- Insures that treatment plan determined by the occupational therapist is carried out by the COTA
- Considers patient criticality, COTA knowledge and experience when assigning patients to a COTA
- Demonstrates understanding of the department polices related to the Student Program
- Gives timely, constructive feedback to the student
- Reviews student documentation prior to insertion into medical record
- Provides for other related experiences such as observing surgery in conjunction with the clinical coordinator
- Performs all student evaluations on time
- Supervises volunteers as needed and in compliance with department and hospital policies
- Makes decisions on care, keeping the patient at the center of the decision-making
- Exhibits a desire to continue professional development and enhance clinical knowledge while meeting NJ State continuing education requirements for licensure
- Enters evaluations into computer on the day it was performed
- Completes progress notes on same day of service
- Enters accurate charges for each treatment performed
- Maintains all documentation necessary for reimbursement (MD scripts, visit authorizations)
- Demonstrates compliance with findings from QI program findings
- Participates in inservices and training activities as indicated
- Provides input into improving the operations of the department
- Provides input into improving the quality of care provided
- Follows all department policies and procedures to maximize cost efficiencies
