CLASS TITLE: Speech Language Pathologist CLASS CODE: 0255 /7294
REPORTS TO: Director/Designee EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt
BASIC FUNCTION:
Identifies students with communication disorders that affect academic performance and provides direct and indirect services based on IEP goals.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Conduct evaluations and determine eligibility per KY Communication Guidelines
- Provide therapy aligned to IEPs; maintain documentation of services and progress
- Communicate test results, diagnoses, and plans to ARCs and families
- Participate in ARC meetings and support IEP development
- Develop treatment goals and adjust plans as needed
- Assist with classroom supports, instructional materials, and implementation
- Participate in hearing screenings and refer as appropriate
- Attend workshops, provide in-service training, and stay current on therapy methods
- Demonstrate punctuality, professionalism, appropriate appearance, and consistent, reliable attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Expertise in assessment and treatment of communication disorders
- Knowledge of IDEA, state special education regulations, and due process
- Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in therapy tools, data tracking, and office/therapeutic equipment
- Ability to maintain accurate records, prioritize tasks, and meet timelines
- Requires speech, vision, and hearing capabilities
- Work involves both indoor and occasional outdoor activity
- Stand & move for extended periods; lift, push, pull, carry, etc. up to 25 lbs. repetitively; kneel, crouch, sit, etc.
- Use technology, including computers, interactive whiteboards, audio-visual equipment, etc.
- Adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics and follow all board and school policies

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Valid Kentucky license or interim certification in speech-language pathology
