This full-time contract position offers the opportunity to deliver speech and language therapy services to middle and high school students in a K-12 educational setting located in Shelton, WA, for the 2025-2026 school year. The role supports the districts initiative to provide individualized speech-language assessment and intervention, while collaborating closely with educational staff and families to promote students academic and personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct speech and language screenings, evaluations, and assessments for students referred for special education services.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized therapy plans for a caseload of approximately 55-60 students with diverse disabilities.
- Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team to contribute assessment information and support Individualized Education Program (IEP) development.
- Provide consultation and advisory services to school personnel regarding speech-language development and remediation strategies.
- Maintain effective communication with students, families, school staff, and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated support.
- Assist regular and special education staff with language program development in classroom and community settings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid Washington State Certificate as an Educational Staff Associate with endorsement as a Speech Language Pathologist or eligibility for certification.
- Ability to successfully pass a Federal Criminal Background Check.
- Experience in pediatric speech-language pathology within school or healthcare settings, including clinical fellowship year (CFY).
- Strong assessment and evaluation skills with the ability to work within a multi-disciplinary educational team.
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting students with special education needs.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a positive approach to workplace relationships.
- Knowledge of special education regulations, procedures, and disability categories relevant to speech-language pathology.
Work Schedule and Location:
- Full-time (1.0 FTE), approximately 7 hours per day, 5 days a week.
- 180 student days plus additional trainings and meetings.
- In-person work within the school setting, starting early September and concluding mid-June (dates subject to adjustment for snow days).
