Looking for Occupational Therapist Support Student Independence Detroit Public Schools

Role Overview:
As a school-based OT, you'll support students fine motor development, sensory regulation, visual-motor integration, and adaptive skills. You'll work closely with educators and specialists to ensure therapy is aligned with educational goals and student IEPs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and contribute to IEP development

  • Deliver direct and consultative OT services across general and special education settings

  • Support students in building classroom-based functional skills (writing, self-care, organization)

  • Collaborate with school staff and families to embed strategies into daily routines

  • Document services and student progress in compliance with district guidelines

  • Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary planning sessions

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Occupational Therapy

  • Current Michigan OT License

  • Michigan Teaching Certificate or School Approval for OT services in public schools

  • Previous school or pediatric experience strongly preferred

  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills

Job Logistics:

  • Type: Full-time, onsite

  • Schedule: MondayFriday during school hours

  • Caseload: K12 (specific assignment varies)
