The Occupational Therapist is primarily responsible for coordinating and providing occupational therapy services to youth in the residential program. This position focuses on the holistic development of youth, addressing sensory processing, motor skills, daily living tasks, and emotional regulation. In a residential treatment setting, this position plays a crucial role in supporting youth to develop the necessary skills for a healthier, more functional life.

This position is expected to function effectively with minimal supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate and treat self-regulation & emotional skills;

  • Evaluate and treat reflex integration skills;

  • Evaluate and treat sensory processing skills;

  • Evaluate and treat gross and fine motor skills;

  • Evaluate and treat visual-motor skills;

  • Evaluate and treat daily living skills & self-care;

  • Evaluate and treat social skills & communication;

  • Assess and modify the environment to meet the youth's and program's needs;

  • Document the services provided;

  • Conduct individual and group Occupational Therapy sessions;

  • Collaborate with other treatment providers to provide therapy services;

  • Essential job responsibilities may vary based on the specific needs of each program/department;

  • Complete other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a master's degree in Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) or equivalent from an accredited university. Preferred Doctor of Occupational Therapy (DOT);
  • 3+ years of related experience preferred;
  • Proof of licensure in state of position;
  • Board-certified, National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT);
  • Knowledge of trauma informed care;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of confidentiality;
  • Reliable with time-sensitive deadlines and tasks;
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
  • Demonstrate compassion, sensitivity, and empathy to the clients served;
  • Work well under pressure and adaptable to change;
  • Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver's license with at least 3 years driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany;
  • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate coverage;
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
  • Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Commitment to Unity.
