Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy.
Registered and certificated by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
At least 1-2 years experience.
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Effective behavior management skills.
REPORTS TO:
Special Services
JOB GOAL:
Assume responsibility for direct therapy and consulting activities for students requiring occupational therapy as required by governing rules and regulations.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop motor activities based on the student's individual needs.
Provide direction in developing needed activities in the areas of : sensory integration, gross and fine motor.
Provide direction in screening motor needs of students suspected of needing occupational therapy.
Act as a member of the multidisciplinary evaluation/reevaluation team for students suspected of needing occupational therapy.
Provide direction in assessment instruments/techniques to evaluate student sensory integration and motor needs.
Acts as resource to district special education staff in the awareness and implementation of occupational therapy evaluation and programming.
Attend IEP meetings on an as needed basis for students being considered for occupational therapy services.
Communicates with staff and parents on individual student progress.
Oversees the supervision of the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the Director of Special Services may assign.
