We continue to grow and are looking fortop talent to join our team and continue this journey with us.FUNCTION: The Occupational Therapist will provide diagnosticevaluations and treatment to assigned patients, and help patientsreach maximum performance level and to use skills learned to thefullest to function in the community within the limits of theircapabilities. QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below arerepresentative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in occupational therapyrequired. Current registration with the American OccupationalTherapy Association required. One year of experience preferred. Strong supervisory and leadership skills. Strong customer serviceorientation. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or relatedsoftware. Ability to use tools used to make adaptive equipment.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this jobsuccessfully, an individual must be able to perform each keyfunction satisfactorily. 1. Provides consultation in areas such asenvironmental design, adaptive equipment, proper positioning ofpatients to prevent contractures and splinting. Administers andwrites evaluations of assigned patients in accordance withdepartmental standards and procedures. 2. Maintains timely andaccurate patient records and reports. 3. Designs and administerstreatment programs to increase patients' levels of functioning.Uses therapeutic exercises and activities to improve or maintainstrength, range of motion, and fine-motor coordination. Instructspatients in adapted techniques and the use of adaptive equipmentfor meal preparation, home management, dressing, feeding, and otherself-care skills. Trains patients in the use of upper-extremityprosthetic devices to resume previous daily routines. Participatesin home assessments. 4. Provides therapy for neurologicalintegration; administers sensor-motor integration treatmenttechniques and visual perceptual-motor remediation programs. Usesactivities to increase developmental levels of patients. Designsand provides individualized therapy for adult learning-disabledpatients. 5. Designs and fabricates splints as specified bydoctors' prescriptions; designs and/or fabricates slings andadaptive equipment to meet the needs of patients and/or theirfamilies. 6. Administers treatment programs to traumaticbrain-injured patients. Uses activities to improve judgment skills,reality orientation, and organizational skills. 7. Providesprevention therapy to maintain functional skills; instructspatients in energy conservation, joint protection, safetytechniques for sensory loss, and transferring and visual fielddeficits; instructs patients' families in personal care forpatients, especially proper transfer techniques to avoid backstrain. 8. Administers prevarication programs to prepare patientsto return to or enter a work setting. Provides activities to assesspatients' organizational skills, attention spans, cognitiveabilities, coordination (fine and gross-motor), andadaptive-equipment needs. 9. Designs home programs and instructspatients or families in carrying out such programs. 10.Participates in patient support groups with other team members. 11.Demonstrates ability to read, write, and speak English sufficientto fulfill job requirements. 12. Demonstrates the ability to makeindependent decisions, solve practical problems that may or may notinclude a variety of concrete variables. This may require theability to interpret instructions given in written, oral, diagram,or scheduled form. 13. Demonstrates the ability to listen activelyand evaluate social situations in an objective, consistent and fairmanner. Functions independently with integrity, flexibility andworks well with residents, personnel and support agencies. 14.Complies with community policies and procedures for workplacesafety including infection control procedures, emergency responseand safety protocol. 15. Complies with all company policies andprocedures related to resident rights; abuse prevention andreporting; and resident confidentiality (HIPPA). 16. Demonstratesknowledge of Employee Handbook and complies with the policies inthe Handbook. 17. Performs other related duties as may beassigned.
