Occupational Therapist, full-time

The Occupational Therapist plans, organizes, and conducts occupational therapy programs to facilitate development and rehabilitation of mentally, physically, or emotionally disabled persons.

The ideal candidate has a current NJ Occupational Therapist license and is a graduate of an accredited therapy program. The candidate must have a genuine desire to help others.

Responsibilities

• Completes and maintains patient records
• Tests and evaluates patients' physical and cognitive abilities and analyzes medical data to determine realistic rehabilitation goals for patients
• Plans, organizes, and conducts occupational therapy programs
• Plans, prepares, or carries out individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve, or restore physical functioning, alleviate pain, or prevent physical dysfunction in patients
• Records prognosis, treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart or enters information into computer. Identifies and documents goals, anticipated progress, and plans for reevaluation
• Evaluates effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit
• Selects activities that will help individuals learn work and life-management skills within limits of their mental or physical capabilities
• Recommends changes in patients' work or living environments, consistent with their needs and capabilities
• Plans and implements programs and social activities to help patients learn skills and adjust to handicaps
• Conducts training programs in occupational therapy techniques and objectives
• Complies with professional, ethical and legal standards
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Current NJ Occupational Therapist License Required
• Graduate of an Accredited Therapy Program
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required
• Ability to work 2 Saturdays a month
