This full-time position is ideal for a recent graduate looking to build a strong foundation in school-based speech-language services while making a meaningful impact in a multilingual community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct bilingual (English-Spanish) speech and language assessments and re-evaluations under the supervision of an ASHA-certified SLP.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and treatment plans tailored to the needs of multilingual learners.
- Provide direct and consultative speech-language therapy services to students in individual and group settings.
- Collaborate with special education teams, general education teachers, ELL staff, and families to support student communication and academic success.
- Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary evaluations, and staff professional development.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.
- Engage in ongoing learning and professional development during the CFY process.
- Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university (completed or to be completed by Summer 2025).
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (spoken and written).
- Eligible for Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Speech-Language Pathology endorsement.
- Eligible for Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) with supervision by an ASHA-certified SLP.
- Passion for working with culturally and linguistically diverse students and families.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Prior practicum or internship experience in school or pediatric settings.
- Familiarity with culturally and linguistically appropriate assessment tools.
- Understanding of language difference vs. disorder in dual-language learners.
